Some Techniques to Help Your Child Cope with Frustration and Stress
Having a child with ADHD can be fairly tough for parents because of the nature of the disorder. You might find them to be more and more agitated, always moving around, twisting and squirming in their seats, and generally just being unable to keep focused on lone task. Sand Tray Therapy provides clients an active, nonverbal, indirect, and symbolic experience of rediscovering visions, hopes, and dreams. Having a child with ADHD may be a maddening encounter at first, more than ever when you don’t understand why a child acts that way. Here are some practical tips that you can do to assist calm down your hyperactive child:
Five minutes of deep breathing can make so much for your child. Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth can directly lessen tension buildup and has an almost instantaneous effect. When your child begins to feel irritated and is starting to act out, take the child aside and educate him or her to do some deep breathing exercises by inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. After your child learns and experiences the advantages of deep breathing, it’s something that he or she can do when having troubles concentrating and you’re not around to help out.
Walk it off with your child, or if your child is old enough, he or she may prefer to walk out the excess energy on his or her own. Walking is very remedial such that it’s very effective in burning off surplus energy and warms up muscles. Remind them also of how to keep themselves protected while walking alone; push your child to do some non-violent physical activities when they feel like blowing off some steam.
Build up some art projects together or involving other siblings. The other side of it is the fact that art helps your child focus on the details. It’s good to keep your child’s art supplies appropriately plugged so that he or she can round on this when feeling stressed out or unable to cope with disturbance.
appease your child’s jerky nerves by massaging him or her nonchalantly.
Touch therapy is highly recommended for children with ADHD because it is very effective in relaxing a child and helping develop concentration.
Maintain your child’s bedroom free from unnecessary distractions by removing clutter and other decorations in the room. It’s good to paint your child’s room in muted and calming colors like a soft tone of pink, green, or blue than in vibrant primary colors. If you’re considering therapy, you can also look into play therapy, a kind of therapy that is mainly for children and which focuses on playing as a means of helping a child’s progress. Play therapy is considered to be one of the best kinds of therapy for children, but it’s also something that the parents will take advantage from as well. There are hobbies which you can do together during therapy in addition when you get home which will help make your child’s therapy sessions more well-organized. Really, the therapy will have better outcome if you collaborate with the therapist in organizing specialized activities to assist you in helping your child better.
ADHD doesn’t need to be something that deeply influences how your child functions in and out of the house. Taking time learning about how to help expand your child’s progress is vital not just in speeding up your child’s progress but also in giving you the chance to become a big part of it. Being involved in your child’s therapy helps give you an idea regarding what things would be helpful for your child’s development and which things would be unfavorable.
